The sought-after city of Lichfield is located within the heart of England in the county of Staffordshire. Lichfield is surprisingly small for a city but achieved city status through Henry VIII. Once the monarch had introduced dioceses (a number of parishes supervised by a bishop), Lichfield was one of six English towns that housed diocesan cathedrals and were therefore granted city status. You can still visit the stunning fourteenth-century cathedral today in the heart of the city. It regularly hosts events for locals that allow you to admire the historical architecture.
There is a good selection of high street and independent retailers at Three Spires Shopping Centre as well as Lichfield’s market square which hosts a general market within the city.
