Local housebuilder Crest Nicholson has partnered with Hernhill CofE Primary School to support creative outdoor play by donating surplus, reusable materials from its Crown Meadows development. This initiative makes the most of the construction materials while supporting the school’s award-winning outdoor play and learning approach.
Senior staff from Hernhill Primary School met with Site Manager, Lewis Watkins, and were delighted to receive a minibus full of surplus construction materials, including pipe lagging, drainage pipes, timber and bricks. The school plan to creatively repurpose the materials to develop new areas for the children to explore and have fun.
Sophie Fitzgerald, Sales & Marketing Director for Crest Nicholson Eastern said:
“At Crest Nicholson we are already taking active steps to maximise material reuse and minimise construction waste across our developments. It’s fantastic to see materials that might otherwise remain unused being put to great use. The team at Hernhill Primary School have brilliant ideas for turning these items into engaging play and learning spaces. We’re proud to support them and look forward to seeing their creative projects come to life!”
Sarah Alexander, Headteacher at Hernhill CofE Primary School added:
“Thank you so much to Crest Nicholson for helping our playtimes. The children are delighted with the loose parts donation and are eagerly planning what to build with it all. I know that these high quality play experiences support our children's resilience, creativity and development.”
