Hawley Park Farm Country Park provides 15 acres of open meadow with tree and hedgerow planting. The space provides opportunities for dog walking and informal recreation including a play area, picnic area and natural play trail. The site has been created as a Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) which helps to reduce recreational pressure on the nearby Thames Basin heathland habitats.
Surfaced and unsurfaced pathways weave through the site and create a variety of routes for different interests. The 1.6km surfaced footpath from the car park, loops around the site and provides access to: the play area; picnic area; and natural play trail.
This route is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. Further surfaced footpaths provide shorter routes through the park. Several informal mown paths provide seasonal routes through the space. Public Right of Way footpath 21 can also be followed along a section of the surfaced footpath as seen on the map.
As you walk around the site some of the tree species you will see include:
The site has been designed to attract a range of wildlife you may therefore see: Bats, butterflies and birds including Skylark (Alauda arvensis), Great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major), Meadow pipit (Anthus pratensis), Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla), Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita), Whitethroat (Sylvia communis), Blackbird (Turdus merula), Robin (Erithacus rubecula), Wren (Troglodytidae), Blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus), Great tit (Parus major).
Play equipment is intended for use by children up to the age of 12. All children should be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
Dog owners are welcome throughout the park (with the exception of the play area) but must ensure their dogs are kept under close supervision at all times. Dog bins are available throughout the site.
Please respect the wildlife and other park users.
